ZAHA Purpose

The Zimbabwe Alliance for Humanitarian Action (ZAHA) exists to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of humanitarian response in Zimbabwe through collective action. Formed in 2023 by nine international NGOs, ZAHA leverages shared expertise, resources, and advocacy to strengthen humanitarian efforts in a resource-limited context. Operating across all provinces with over a thousand staff and more than one hundred local partners, ZAHA is committed to principled, coordinated, and inclusive humanitarian action—ensuring that aid reaches those in need with greater accountability, relevance, and lasting impact

Advocacy

ZAHA actively engages in advocacy to amplify the voices of vulnerable communities and influence policies that promote equitable humanitarian response. Through strategic partnerships and evidence-based messaging, we work to ensure that humanitarian issues remain a priority on national and international agendas

Research

Research underpins ZAHA’s approach to evidence-based humanitarian action. We conduct and support studies that uncover needs, measure impact, and identify emerging trends, providing valuable insights that shape effective and adaptive interventions.

Coordination

Effective coordination is at the heart of ZAHA’s mission. We bring together member organizations to align strategies, reduce duplication, and maximize the reach and impact of humanitarian interventions. By fostering collaboration, we ensure a more unified and efficient response to emergencies.

Localisation

ZAHA is committed to promoting localisation by empowering local actors and organizations to lead humanitarian action. We support capacity building and resource sharing to strengthen grassroots initiatives, ensuring that solutions are culturally relevant and sustainable.

Information Sharing

Timely and transparent information sharing is key to informed decision-making. ZAHA facilitates the exchange of data, best practices, and situational updates among members and stakeholders to enhance preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
