ZAHA drives evidence-based, community-informed advocacy that amplifies local perspectives in humanitarian decision-making. Our strategy is to shape policy, financing, and practice by engaging directly with government, donors, and multilateral actors ensuring that humanitarian discourse and action reflect the realities and aspirations of affected communities.

Key Activities:
  • Convene joint advocacy platforms.
  • Engage in national, regional, and global policy dialogues.
  • Produce policy briefs rooted in local evidence and experience.

Coordination

Building a locally led, efficient, and inclusive humanitarian ecosystem

ZAHA serves as a coordination hub for humanitarian actors committed to principled, collaborative action in Zimbabwe. Our approach champions local leadership in sectoral coordination, ensuring that humanitarian responses are timely, efficient, accountable, and aligned with community priorities.

Key Activities:
  • Promote co-creation of response programmes, inclusive planning and information-
  • sharing among local and international actors.
  • Support joint contingency planning and response alignment.

Localisation

Redefining humanitarian leadership through equitable partnerships

ZAHA is committed to operationalising localisation by shifting power and resources to local and national actors. We work to transform the humanitarian system into one that recognises, funds, and strengthens local leadership as the foundation of sustainable response.

Key Activities:
  • Convene platforms for dialogue on localisation in Zimbabwe.
  • Promote long term partnership investment models that support capacity and
  • leadership development for local NGOs.
  • Advocate for direct funding and risk-sharing mechanisms for local partners.

Information sharing

Driving transparency and collective intelligence in humanitarian action

ZAHA champions open, inclusive, and actionable information flows that empower communities, inform decision-making, and strengthen accountability. We facilitate data sharing across the humanitarian ecosystem to ensure no actor or community is left behind.

Key Activities:
  • Promote the generation and use of real-time information in humanitarian action
  • Publish regular situation reports, bulletins, and analytical briefs.
  • Host knowledge exchanges and learning events.

Research

Generating local evidence to transform humanitarian policy and practice

ZAHA invests in context-specific research that informs effective, ethical, and locally led humanitarian action. We prioritise participatory approaches that elevate community knowledge and co-produce findings with local researchers and organisations.

  • Commission operational and policy research with local academic and research

  • Integrate community feedback mechanisms into learning agendas.
  • Disseminate research findings to influence programming and funding decisions.
